350 illegal Mijas homes under threat of demolition

MIJAS Town Hall has warned that around 350 illegal homes may have to be demolished.

The local Councillor for Urban Development, Manuel Navarro, said that 4,200 illegal homes had been identified and most will be made legal thanks to new plan for urban development, but that between 300 and 400 would not.

The new plan has been approved by the Junta de Andalucia and will mean 3,500 homes in Valtocado, La Atalaya, Entrerrios, Majadilla del Muerto, La Alqueria-El Hornillo, Osunillas, La Alberquilla, El Chaparral and Los Perales Industrial Estate will become legal.

Navarro said that owners of illegal homes outside these areas would have to fill in a form at the town hall and prove that there are no negative development reports against it. They will also have to provide photos, plans and a certificate to prove the house can be lived in.
